Dae Rung Hyung -- The Sparring Forms
These are forms created by 8th Dan Master Dong Hoon Kim of Tucson AZ. As
their name suggested they are primarily for working on techniques useful in
sparring. They are a nice set, are challanging, having some good
kicking drills in them, and have good sparring applications as well.
Tips (as reprinted from the newsletter "The Blue Wave").
- Start from normal parallel open ready stance with fists in front of
abdomen just below belt knot.
- On first call, step the right foot back in a fighting stance and Gee-Hop.
- All blows, blocks, and kicks are toward the direction faces when in guard.
- Finish each move in back stance, with the foot most recently used in front.
- The sparring forms are designed to be performed from each side, so both
sides can be developed equally. So do the forms from both sides.
