1. Changes
in the Honors Program - Joyce Kinkead & David Lancy
(see previously forwarded message from David Lancy)
2. Success
Registration - Heather Thomas
Success registration packets going out in a few weeks. Success
students
required to register for 9 success sponsored credits. Students
must
register for Psy 1000, University Connections (formerly called
University
Survival), and cluster-linked course. After registering for
Psy 1000 and a
cluster-linked course, students will be able to register for
regular
scheduled classes, along with other new freshmen, beginning
June 14th.
Students must add (or drop) the Psy 1000 and cluster-linked
course through
Pat Anderson (pata@cc.usu.edu, 797-1128).
Sophomore
Experience is new program being created as a result of the 60
credits/residency changes. It will be an extension of the Success
program
into the sophomore year. This program will begin Fall 2003.
Students in
this program will be required to live in on-campus housing.
For more
information contact Heather Thomas (heather@tss.usu.edu).
3. Student
Honor Code - Andy Haws
The new Student Honor Code includes an honor pledge and a process
to get
students more involved in disciplinary actions. The policy will
ensure
better accuracy in record keeping of offenses and facilitate
more consistent
sanctions against students who cheat. Faculty members do not
have to report
all cases of academic dishonesty to the Vice President for Student
Services
if they choose to resolve the case with a warning, reprimand,
or grade adjustment. Cases of academic dishonesty will only
come to the attention of the Vice President for Student Services
if the faculty member refers the case for a hearing. Brochures
are being made to better inform students and faculty members
about the Honor Code.
4. Revised
AP Credit Allocation Tables - John Mortensen
Yesterday, the EPC approved the revised changes to the allocation
of AP
credit. The previous policy was somewhat out-of-date. The new
policy makes
makes the allocation of credit more clear. The only significant
change is
in regard to the Environmental Science exam. Attached is a copy
of the new
policy.
5. Graduating
Student Survey Advisor Listing - John Mortensen
John handed out a draft of an insert that will be included in
the Graduating
Student Survey for students who will graduate in August. The
insert is a
listing of undergraduate advisors. Advisors should review the
names and
forward corrections, additions, and deletions to John. John
sent a revised
list to advisors earlier today (Friday). All changes need to
be submitted
by 5:00 p.m. today.
6. SOAR
Holds - John Mortensen
Attached is a handout that summarizes the process for clearing
orientation
and advising registration holds. Advisors need to have update-access
to the
148 screen in SIS Plus. Those who do not have access should
e-mail John
(mort@cc.usu.edu) with their 4-digit SIS Plus operator number.
When a
student has been advised, the advisor should go to Screen 148.
If screen
148 displays:
* Hold 91 - advisors should add a note to indicate that a student
has been
advised.
* Hold 94 - advisors should clear the hold.
7. International
Student Orientation - John Mortensen
John introduced Negar Davis, the new director of International
Students and
Scholars. The SOAR Office will be working closely with the International
Office to provide better orientation information to students.
Group
advising sessions will be scheduled for new students and also
for students
completing the Intensive English program.
8. Finish
