USU Student Recreation & Wellness Center Project Part 2
Part 2 of the USU Student Recreation & Wellness Center (SRWC) project – the design and programming phase – has formally begun! Recently, a selection committee (which included ASUSU student leaders and members from the division and Campus Recreation) participated in selecting the architectural firm that will not only lead through the design and programming phase, but all the way through to final completion of the SRWC. The RFP process provided an outstanding group of firms from which to choose and as a result, a partnership of two amazing firms – AJC Architects from Salt Lake City and their national partner, 360 Architecture from Kansas City, Missouri was selected. The expertise, commitment, vision, and passion of these architectural partners will lead to successful outcomes throughout every stage of this important project.
As part of the design and programming phase, two key committees that will actively shape and guide this student services project have been formed. The first committee is the SRWC Steering Committee. This group will be responsible for making critical decisions related to the design, programming, and budgetary aspects of the new building.
The members of the steering committee will also serve as members of the larger SRWC Working Committee which will have an expanded membership that includes more students and other members from the Division of Student Services and the Department of Facilities. In addition, a few select members from the broader USU community have been invited to participate in the working committee. The first assignment for the steering committee was to participate in a formal project kickoff AND VISIONING meeting that was held June 6th.
The work of these two committees with be presented through this web site and on social media via facebook and twitter. Check back for additional information as these communication channels are developed and put into production.
