The Phoenix Alumni Chapter is still small but continues to grow each year as we meet fellow Aggie classmates and invite more to join our activities. There are actually nearly 2000 Aggies living in the Phoenix area alone. The Phoenix area is immense and it's difficult to plan an event close to everyone, so we have tried to keep events either downtown or in the Tempe area since it is a more central location.

As an Aggie Alumni there are several ways to get involved:

1. Socially - We host at least 2 events each year where Aggies can get together to visit, reminisce, and even have some good old Aggie Ice Cream. In the past we've met at an Arizona Diamondbacks game and had a BBQ at the park. We've appreciated everyone who has attended, whether once or many times, and we hope that if you haven't been able to participate you can some in 2009.

This year not only will we have those two activities but several other chances to get together. See the list of events below and mark your calendars.

2. Committee - We always welcome new faces and ideas to the alumni chapter board. When you serve as a member of the committee you help plan and attend chapter events, recruit the students who live around you to go to USU, and help in evaluating and granting the Legacy Scholarships.

3. Donations - We are all continually bombarded by different organizations for donations. Even from USU there are many worthy causes (Alumni, Colleges, Annual Fund, Athletics, etc.). Another option is to donate money directly to the Arizona Chapter Legacy Scholarship Fund. All money donated goes directly to "Legacy" applicants. To apply for this scholarship the student must be a freshman and have one parent or grandparent who graduated from Utah State. Our chapter fund is very minimal and we have only been able to assist a few students each year with the help of the alumni and admissions office. 4. Networking - Everyone knows how important it is to network, whether it be for business, political, or social reasons. The Alumni Association has setup a web site called USU InCircle. Only people who graduated from USU can register on this networking site. Not only does it give you the opportunity to find groups you may have been affiliated with (i.e. Phoenix Alumni), but you can also find alumni you went to school with, upcoming events, and even job opportunities. This is a great tool! Join the Phoenix Alumni Chapter group so you can see the upcoming events in the area.
