About West Coast Marketing Group
Mission
A forum of alumni relations staff at colleges and universities in the Western United States for professional networking and candid information exchange regarding the strategic development, communication and administration of marketing, membership, and royalty programs.
Membership
Open to university alumni associations in the Western United States with established dues-paying membership programs, by recommendation of a meeting attendee or by invitation by the meeting chair. Programs of any size are welcome, but institutions with at least 75,000 addressable alumni are the ones most encouraged to participate.
Meetings
Locations rotate on a volunteer basis. The host school for each meeting will be responsible for arranging accommodations, inviting and registering attendees, securing sponsorships, setting the program's agenda, and other details of the conference.
Attendance
In order to maximize sponsorship subsidization, no more than two attendees per institution should attend each meeting. It is recommended that representatives be staff in the alumni relations marketing and membership department or the executive director. It is not recommended that volunteer board or committee members attend.
Meeting Content
Content shall be determined by interaction among conference attendees, with an agenda created by the meeting chair and distributed prior to the meeting.
Guest Presenters
Presenters from outside the membership may be invited at the discretion of the meeting chair. The inclusion of guest presenters and the number of them should be determined by what is appropriate for the meeting content. Usually, a limit of one guest presenter per meeting is considered. Presenters from paid vendors are discouraged.
Sponsorship
It is in the affinity partners' best interest to be involved in this exchange of information. Affinity partners may be extended the opportunity to financially support the conference, have marketing materials available for meeting circulation, receive a roster of meeting attendees, and mail materials for distribution. On-site presentations by vendors are strongly discouraged. For a higher sponsorship fee, limited interaction at a social event during the meeting may be considered at the meeting chair's discretion
