Volunteer Opportunities

Be A Docent

We need your help! Are you interested in museums and would like to volunteer? Come find out about the Museum of Anthropology's docent program. We give volunteers opportunities to help with school and community programs.

As a docent (Tour Guide), you provide groups with awesome learning experiences, in the form of museum tours, demonstrations, or other specialmuseum activities and programs.

To become a docent, an introduction to the museum and observation of at least one tour given by a more experienced docent is needed before you can lead your own tour.
Docents need to commit one hour a week for tours or trainging.

Tours are most commonly given to 4th and 6th grade classes, with 30 or less per group. Tours usually last about 45 minutes and include a presentation by the docent, and then a Treasure Hunt or other hands-on activity.

Other Opportunities

For those who like Museums and want to learn more how they function. There are volunteer opportunities for people to help with curration, restoration and more. To learn more, call the Museum coordinator at 797-7545.
