LEARN ABOUT AND TRY NATIVE FOODS AT THE USU MUSEUM OF ANTHROPLOGY AND THE STOKES NATURE CENTER

LOGAN — The Saturday activity series continues at the Museum of Anthropology at Utah State University. This Saturday, the museum offers an overview of native foods eaten in the Cache Valley area. The activity is offered in partnership with the Stokes Nature Center.

Guests can participate in a “Native Plant Hike” the morning of Saturday, May 10, from 9-11 a.m., starting at the Stokes Nature Center. The hike is free and is led by local native plant expert Kayo Robertson. Hikers will locate and discuss native plants and how they were used by early people. After the hike, guests can continue to the Museum of Anthropology to participate in a supplementary program. Guests who attend the hike and visit the museum will receive a coupon for free Aggie Ice Cream.

Guests who only participate in museum activities can stop at the museum anytime between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. A tour, including information about native groups in the Great Basin area and how they acquired food, will be provided. Visitors can sample a variety of foods that were available prehistorically.

The USU Museum of Anthropology is on the USU campus in the south turret of the historic Old Main building, room 252. Free parking is available in the adjacent lot, south of the building. For more information on this event, call museum coordinator Sara Lundberg at (435) 797-7545
