Pat has worked at Utah State University and in Student Services for almost 17 years. She is the Staff Assistant in the Academic Resource Center. She was awarded the Classified Employee of the Year Award in 2004 the USU Outstanding Classified Employee of the Year Award in 2005. Years ago she was a Student Center representative for the Classified Employee Association and for the past 18 months has been the Treasurer for CEA which she really enjoys.
Pat is a Cache Valley native and was born and raised in Smithfield. She has three children and eight grandchildren of her own. Together with her husband they have 12 children, 21 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Pat enjoys camping and especially loves to camp at Bear Lake. She likes to be in the middle of a water fight or any water activity such as water skiing, wave runners, and hot springs. She also likes reading, antiques, and crocheting. She and her husband take many road trips to Arizona in the winter and Montana in the summer where they love to shop for antiques, garage sale, and shop at flea markets. A few years ago she got a new digital camera and has become the family photographer which is amazing because she used to cut heads off with her old 136 millimeter film camera. The Academic Resource Center programs and services are supported using qualified students who are hired and trained to work as program assistants, academic tutors, SI leaders and coordinators. Students come from a variety of academic majors and represent a rich diversity of talents, interests, academic majors, and demographic backgrounds. Strict academic standards are established that students must meet to be eligible to apply for these positions and formal interviewing and hiring procedures are followed. Student employees are required to complete training tailored to their specific jobs. Math and stats tutors complete a two credit course that results in national tutor certfication. SI leaders are involved in bi-weekly training throughout each semester they are employed. All student employees are observed regularly as they are working and formal performance evaluations are conducted.
