LECTURE AND PERFORMANCE PART OF USU’s NORA ECCLES HARRISON MUSEUM OF ART’S "PICTURING THE WEST” EXHIBITION
LOGAN — The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, located on the campus of Utah State University, Logan, announces an exhibition of photographs, “Picturing the West Depression Era Photography: Lange, Lee and Rothstein.”
Selected by cultural historian and USU faculty member Victoria Grieve, the photographs are examples of the museum’s collection of Farm Security Administration photographs that document the plight of the rural poor in the 1930s.
Grieve will provide an exhibition lecture Friday, March 9, at 6:30 p.m. in the museum lobby. Following the lecture at 7:30 p.m., a performance by Utah Opera Ensemble will include selections from the new opera based on John Steinbeck’s classic American novel “The Grapes of Wrath.”
The exhibition will travel to the Alta club in Salt Lake City where it will be on display April 1-July 13. For more information on the Alta Club event, contact Michael Chipman at Michael.chipman@usu.edu.
