Knowing What to Study

Knowing what to study actually begins the first day of your class, not just before your test. Your professor will distribute a syllabus and explain course requirements. Before your next class, you should ensure that you have reviewed your syllabus and entered on your planning calendar all important dates related to your class, including: assigned reading, quizzes, tests, assignments, projects, papers, labs, etc. By doing this, you will have a clear idea of the type and quantity of work you need to complete prior to your test.

Test questions can come from a variety of course materials. It is your responsibility to find out what sources a professor will use to create test questions. Use the Checklist to Gather Study Materials to help you identify what you need to gather when beginning your test reviews.
