Utah State University Extension Energy Resources
Utah citizens rely on a dependable, almost unlimited supply of energy sold as electrical power, transportation fuels, and compressed fuel gasses. The natural resources that provide this energy to the US are more than adequate for several generations; but clean energy technology and resources are needed for the very near future. If the adoption of new energy technology follows historical trends, Americans can expect resource availability and price to greatly impact the possibility of rapid advancement, adoption, and widespread implementation. In addition to price and availability, the public will demand that future energy technologies be environmentally superior to conventional coal and petroleum energy production, while also offering a long term, dependable solution to energy needs. It is very likely that one or more of the energy production technologies currently being researched will provide the necessary solution.
