This course emphasizes extensive laboratory work and demonstrations in microbial fermentation from bench scale to pilot scale. Laboratory experiments are supported by lectures and discussions on the fundamentals of microbial growth, growth kinetics, strain development and scale-up strategies. Participants will gain the skills and knowledge to design and optimize fermentation processes in batch and fed-batch cultures.

Are you interested in learning a little American Sign Language? No experience necessary. Starting the week of May 25, classes will be held Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m., Wednesdays at 12 (noon) or Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. Classes will run for four weeks. See how Famous Aggie Ice Cream is made. Watch a video and tour the plant. Tour times are 2, 3 and 4 p.m. Purchase tickets at the NFS ice cream store and then meet in room 202. Cost is $3 per person and includes a Famous Aggie Ice Cream cone.
