9:00 am - 3:00 pm    Be the Match Bone Marrow Registry Drive

Special Event / Val. R. Christensen Service Center

On Jan. 7 and 8, Aggie Health is partnering with Be the Match and the Red Cross to run a bone marrow registry drive. This is a simple 5-10 minutes process where a swab is taken from the inside of the cheek and used to create a donor profile. When someone is in need of a bone marrow transplant steps are taken to find a donor that fits a specific profile. Family members are the first to be contacted but 70% of patients will not have a match with someone within their family. This is where we step in. By building up the donor registry you help increase the possibility of a match being found. After adding your information to the registry you will be contacted in the event that someone needing a bone marrow transplant matches you. You will then have the choice whether or not you want to donate. The donation process is very similar to donating blood and is simple and pain free. If you choose to donate you will know that there is a specific person you are helping in an incredible way.
