These events are sponsored by University Advancement and the Office of the VP of Research, and are underwritten by Regence BlueCross Blueshield.

10:00 am - 6:00 pm    Blind Hollow Student Trip

Join the ORP this weekend (Feb. 1-3) on a student-only trip to the Blind Hollow yurt up Logan Canyon. The cost of the trip is $20, and space is limited to seven participants. A mandatory pre-trip meeting will be held Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the shop. The meeting will cover what to expect at the yurt and size students up for gear — attendees will receive a %10 discount on gear. We recommend that only intermediate to advanced skiers and boarders sign up, due to the terrain and conditions.

Emeritus Professors RT Clark and Craig Law return to Utah State University to exhibit art work in the Tippetts Exhibit Hall, open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., free and open to the public. A reception is Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. in the Tippetts Exhibit Hall and is free and open to the public.

"Ideas" an exhibition is the result of a collaborative project between the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art and professor Rachel Middleman's art history class. The students explored the history and ideas of conceptual art while learning about specific pieces of conceptual art in the museum's collection. This resulted in a student-curated art exhibit, free and open to the public. The opening reception is Jan. 22 at 5 p.m.

5:00 pm - 7:00 pm    Opening Reception for 'Industrial Ethos,' a Photography Exhibit

Cache Valley photographer Chris Dunker's one-man show "Industrial Ethos" opens Feb. 1 at 5 p.m. Dunker's work captures the intrigue of the industrial era by photographing architecture and machinery, displaying its beauty and strength.

7:00 pm - 8:30 pm    Science Unwrapped - 'Explore to Conserve: A Russian Kayaking Adventure'

Inquiring minds of all ages are invited to "ride along" on a kayaking adventure with USU physicist and wildlife biologist Jeff Hazboun. Hazboun recounts highlights of his National Geographic-sponsored expedition into Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula to explore pristine, yet imperiled, salmon habitat. Hear stories of navigating waterfalls, viewing Kamchatka's many bears and marveling at Kamchatka's spectacular volcanoes. Hands-on learning activities following the talk, including an exhibit by USU Engineering's student Concrete Canoe competition team, an exhibit by the USU Museum of Anthropology about migration of ancient peoples by kayak and canoe; flotation exhibits by the USU Physics Department; GIS demonstrations of stream mapping by the USU Department of Watershed Sciences; a volcano exhibit by the USU Department of Geology and more.

Logan Out Loud (L.O.L) improv comedy theater will preform at USU Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. The group is comprised of several talented performers and has performed all over, bringing smiles and laughter to millions of cells in hundreds of people. The benefit show will help a student at USU who was involved in a motorcycle accident in December.

Special Event / Campus Recreation

Bring a Teddy Bear or other stuffed animal to throw onto the ice after the first Aggie goal against Weber State. All stuffed critters will be taken by the players to give away during their visit to local hospitals.
