Online registration for "Souper (1 Mile) Fun Run & 5K." Runs will take place Saturday, April 27, at Mantua Reservoir. 5K begins @ 9 a.m., with check-in/day-of-registration beginning @ 8:30 a.m. 1 Mile Fun Run will begin @ 10:30 a.m. with check-in/day-of-registration beginning @ 10 a.m. Prices are: 5K, $15 with T-shirt; $10 without T-shirt. Fun Run, $5 for individual, $15 for family. Please come dressed as your favorite "Souper" Hero! Prizes and awards will be given out at the end of each run. Register online @ The run has been planned by the PRP 3075 class in USU's Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department. All proceeds will be given to the Acts VI Soup Kitchen in Brigrham City.

"Ideas" an exhibition is the result of a collaborative project between the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art and professor Rachel Middleman's art history class. The students explored the history and ideas of conceptual art while learning about specific pieces of conceptual art in the museum's collection. This resulted in a student-curated art exhibit, free and open to the public. The opening reception is Jan. 22 at 5 p.m.

The graduating students in the Department of Art & Design Interior Design program are showcasing their portfolio work in the Tippetts Exhibit Hall in the Chase Fine Arts Center on USU's campus. This exhibition is free and open to the public.

10:00 am - 5:00 pm    LUX: Light and Space Art from the Museum's Collection

This exhibit includes 17 paintings, photographs, and sculptures from the museum's collection exploring how artists have used light as a medium or subject matter. Several large pieces focus on artists who are considered to be the leaders of the light and space art movement of the 1970s. The artists in this exhibit bring up philosophical issues about how the brain perceives the world, and these artworks expand the ideas of what materials are actually considered to be art. Seven new pieces are included in this exhibit which have never been on display in the museum before. At the same time, this work creates enchanting experiences of color, shadow, and shape that are sure to entertain all ages. The exhibit also includes one of the most significant artworks in the museum's collection: a Plexiglas disc installation by Robert Irwin.

Northern Utah-based photographer Chris Dunker presents 21 selections of his work in the exhibit, "Industrial Ethos." These loaned photographs address the culture of industry and how industry appears over time. Dunker's fascination with urban decay provides a dystopian look at the modern, optimistic attitude of industry and manufacturing that has marked the progress and historical significance of northern Utah. Also included in the exhibit are antique books and photographs from Dunker's personal collection that document some of the earliest industrial breakthroughs such as steam turbines and generators. Certain industries, local to Cache Valley and the northern Utah region, are featured in the exhibit, including ICON Health and Fitness, Thermo Fisher, Nucor Steel, and Sirtec Plastics.

Relaxation – College can be a very stressful time to be a student for many reasons. To be successful, students need well developed skills to manage their stress in addition to just taking time to relax. In this workshop, you will learn some basic ideas about taking care of yourself and specific exercises you can practice to reduce the wear and tear that stress has on your mind and body. You will have the opportunity to experience these exercises as part of this workshop as well as discuss ways to integrate these techniques into your daily life. Workshop / Outdoor Recreation Center

The sessions will be held each Tuesday in the HPER pool from 7 to 9 p.m. in April. Participants are encouraged to bring their own boat and equipment but we’ll have 12 kayaks available if you need one, pre-registration is necessary to be able to use one. If you choose to bring your own boat you must follow the protocols we have aggreed upon with the USU facilities department. The ORP staff will meet you at the Northwest Corner of the HPER building to get your cleaning process started. You will need to drop your boat and assist in cleaning, the ORP staff will finish the process and slide your boat in the back door. You will need to enter the pool through the front of the HPER through the locker rooms. The cost for each session is $5/with kayak and $10/without kayak. The courses are open to students, staff, faculty and the public. We’re excited to get spring started with these sessions, click the link below to register for a session!
