Spring Nature Walks, Saturdays, 10 a.m. Join us for an easy stroll and learn about the history of Swaner, what animals and plants call the preserve home, and how the preserve changes through the seasons. Boots or mudshoes recommended. Nature enthusiasts of all ages are welcome. Reservations for nature walks are suggested. There is a $5 fee for non-members, free for members. 10:00 am - 4:00 pm    Peopling of the New World at the Museum of Anthropology

This Saturday, join us at the Museum of Anthropology to learn the latest information on when and how scientists believe humans entered the Americas. An illustrated lecture at 1 p.m. will present the highlights of ongoing research. Docent lead talks of our "Peopling of the New World" exhibit will take place throughout the day, and kids can make boat replicas and learn how to throw an atlatl. The museum is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and admission is always FREE!

Geocaching on the Swaner Preserve -- Enjoy exploring the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter while you learn to geocache! Geocaching will be offered every second Thursday and Saturday of each month during the summer. The following are the scheduled dates: *Thursday, June 13, 4 p.m.; *Saturday, June 15, 11 a.m.; *Thursday, July 11, 4 p.m.; *Saturday, July 13, 11 a.m.; *Thursday, Aug. 8, 4 p.m.; and *Saturday, Aug. 10, 11 a.m. The activity will take 1 hour and reservations are required. Swaner can host 7 individuals or teams for each session and an additional 3 individuals or teams can participate if they have their own GPS units. Free to members $5 for nonmembers. Climbing Wall Hours: Saturdays from 1-3 p.m. The Swaner EcoCenter indoor, wetland-themed climbing wall is open every Saturday from 1-3 p.m. Free for members, $5 per person for non-members. Open to all ages. We provide the climbing harness. Climbers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult to sign a liability waiver.
