3rd and 4th grade students can try out their hand at making their own Fremont pottery and split twig figurines, participate in a mock archaeological excavation, and learn about tree-ring dating! Camp dates are June 24-June 28, 2013 (The activities are the same each day, so please choose ONE day to attend). Time: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Ages: 8-10. Registration is FREE! Pre-registration is required. Email Candice at firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain a registration packet, or pick one up at the front desk of the museum (Old Main, Room 252), open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

This new exhibit features nine works of art recently donated to the Museum by the late Joe Austin. These artworks are avant garde pieces from the 1970s and 1980s by artists working in the Los Angeles area and include an early painting by Lari Pittman. Beginning in 2005, Joe Austin gave a number of important artworks to the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art. He died in March 2013 in Los Angeles at the age of 74. Mr. Austin donated modern and contemporary artworks by Alison Saar, Charles Gaines, Dewain Valentine and Peter Shire among others. A graduate of Harvard Law School, he was a successful attorney and a passionate supporter of the visual arts throughout his life. Effective Coping -- This workshop is designed to help students cope more effectively with the challenges of college life while they prepare for counseling. Open to all students and staff, this workshop surveys common concerns and presenting issues, as well as a model for reviewing thoughts, feelings and needs. It also provides practice for value clarification and basic behavior change to help students cope. Participants will be encouraged to read brief articles and keep a one page journal of change.
