Recreational / Campus Recreation

Summer intramural registration is open now. Join a team or start your own to compete against other teams in soccer or softball. Intramurals are open to all current students and people who pay the $22.17 recreation fee at the registrar's office. Games begin May 27 (soccer) and 28 (softball) and are played once a week for 8 weeks. Game times are 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Saturday Nature Walk -- 10-11:30 a.m. Join us on your Saturday morning for a nature walk on the Preserve! During the tour, you'll learn about wetland science, native plant and animal species, the history of the Swaner Preserve. These tours take place on the generally flat terrain of the Swaner wetlands and are appropriate to anyone who is relatively active. Please come prepared for the outdoor conditions, sturdy boots or shoes (close-toed) are recommended along with a water bottle. The tour begins at the Swaner EcoCenter, please click here for directions. If you would like a private tour of the Preserve, please visit the Preserves website. 11:30 am - 2:30 pm    Meet Earthwings' Newest Addition

Student Activities / Extension

Earthwings founder and falconer Eric McGill will be spending the day at the EcoCenter with their newest addition, a baby Eurasian eagle-owl. This big fluffball will grow to be the planet's largest owl species, with a nearly 7-foot wingspan. This owlet will join Earthwings' other birds that work to educate classes and audiences throughout Utah on the importance of understanding and protecting the natural world. Stop by the Ecocenter to meet this brand new owlet, or join us for a flying show in front of the building at 1:00 p.m.

Climbing Wall Hours -- Saturdays from 1-3 p.m. The Swaner EcoCenter indoor, wetland-themed climbing wall is open every Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The climbing wall is open to most ages. We provide the climbing harness. Please wear closed toe shoes. Climbers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult to sign a liability waiver. Cost: $5 per climber or FREE for members!
