Program Notes for "War and the Human Heart" Concert on Nov. 3

Exhibition

As part of the University's series of events commemorating the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, the American Festival Chorus will be performing a special concert, "War and the Human Heart." This program will communicate in music, words and film, what a veteran's experience is really like. Notes for all the pieces on the concert program are on display in the lobby of the Daines Concert Hall so you can learn more about the background of the music being performed. Explore the largest arachnid exhibit in the United States and discover the connections between arachnids and literature, art, folklore, paleontology, science, and history. The Art and Science of Arachnids features 100 live arachnids and exciting hands-on activities, experiments, and play. During its time at the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter, this exhibit will be available to read and listen to in both Spanish and English!

Alan Huckleberry: The People United Will Never Be Defeated

Alan Huckleberry, professor of piano at the University of Iowa, will give a multimedia presentation of Frederic Rzewski's "The People United Will Never Be Defeated: 36 Variations on 'El Pueblo Unido Jamas Sera Vencido.'" There will be a dessert reception immediately following the performance at the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art.
