Patrick Dougherty Art Installation

The USU Dept. of Art + Design in collaboration with the Caine College of the Arts is seeking volunteers to hel artist Patrick Dougherty build a willow sculpture on the USU campus. No specific skills are required other than enthusiasm, physical stamina, and the ability to follow instructions. Building takes place 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. Pre-register at art.usu.edu/willow.

Evans Biography Awards presentation and panel discussion

The 2018 winners of the Evans Book Awards will be honored at a presentation beginning at 10 a.m. Winner of the Evans Biography Award is historian Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, while ethnographer Rodney Frey received the Evans Handcart Award. Following at 11 a.m. is a panel discussion: 'Researching and Writing Challenging Topics.' Panel members are Ulrich and Frey, as well as Gary Bergera, former managing director of Signature Books, and Darren Parry, chairman of the Northwest Band of the Shoshone Nation. Open to all.
