Graduate School Fair
Celebration/Fair/Festival
Each year Career Services and the School of Graduate Studies sponsor the Graduate School Fair. The Fair is held fall semester to help students apply on time for various graduate programs. Graduate programs from around the region, including representatives from other institutions around the nation attend. Even if graduate school is a few years away, the fair provides helpful information in planning and preparing for your graduate school experience.

This is a seven-session program for undergraduate women who may not yet see themselves as leaders, but have a sense of their career goals and the contributions they want to make. The 2017/2018 sessions are currently filled, however applications will be accepted in April 2018 for the 2018/2019 program.

NEHMA Museum + Music Imagining Community: Logan 1948-49

This year, Museum + Music explores different conceptions of “community” suggested by the intersection of visual art and music. The first concert considers the artistic life of Cache Valley, and Utah in general, immediately after the Second World War. In 1948 Roy Harris, who was one of the preeminent composers of American classical music at the time, and his wife Johana, a virtuoso pianist with a career in her own right, accepted positions at Utah State Agricultural College. During their brief stay they contributed to a burgeoning cultural scene, much of which was fostered by New Deal programs. “Logan 1948-49” features guest solo pianist Jean-Louis Haguenauer, a renowned interpreter of the French repertoire and Professor of Piano at the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University, Bloomington, as well as USU Caine College of the Arts Music Department faculty Bradley Ottesen and Mayumi Matzen.

Family Art Day at the Merrill-Cazier Library
Arts/Entertainment
The theme for October’s Family Art Day is “Telling a Spooky Story –With Art!” We will create Halloween-themed silhouette images using tints and shades like artists do. This event has been created to coincide with the Merrill-Cazier Library’s exhibition “Memento Mori: The Art of Death and Mourning.” This exhibition features artistic iconographies surrounding the themes of death and dying. Although Halloween is approaching, never fear, NEHMA and Merrill-Cazier staff will work to keep October’s programming family-friendly for all ages!
