Emerging trends of the 21st century are putting increasing pressures on the natural resources that sustain us. The priority of the College of Natural Resource's Annual fund during the Campaign for Utah State University is the enhancement of existing scholarships. The college awards scholarships to support top level students at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Scholarships enable students to focus on their academic studies, conduct research and field work and to graduate on time. Enhancing existing scholarships will enable the college to award a greater number of scholarships at larger amounts. This priority will support students directly, consistently one of the most important goals of the college. Donors wishing to give to a particular existing scholarship can contact Jon Paulding, Development Director for the College.

Keeping USU nationally pre-eminent among natural resources programs requires us to attract highly talented students, and to recruit and retain a world-class faculty in an increasingly competitive academic environment. Our campaign to raise $12 million by 2010 will secure a continuing tradition of excellence in our two most fundamental activities: learning and teaching.

We need your help in distinguishing the College of Natural Resources at Utah State University by enabling us to offer competitive scholastic, research and career opportunities to students and faculty. We invite you to join our campaign by supporting those areas of CNR that mean the most to you. We are grateful for every gift of support that we receive and we pledge to put each gift to good use. However large or small your gift may be, your partnership with us is essential to our future success.

College Campaign Goals: $20 Million

Annual Fund

Our Annual Fund is ideal for gifts in any amount. The fund provides opportunities for students to showcase their abilities by attending and competing at national and international professional meetings. [For example, CNR's student team brought home the inaugural Rangeland Cup, out-competing all other universities at the 2007 Society for Range Management's national meeting.] Our Annual Fund also provides opportunities for undergraduate students who are working on research projects with faculty to attend scientific conferences and present their results in papers or posters. It also supports many other student activities—from the Loggers Ball to student leadership training workshops. In short, it is one of the main funding sources for our extra-curricular programs that make the educational experience in CNR more rewarding for each student.

Endowments

Endowments can provide the best opportunity for the College of Natural Resources to enhance the quality of our academic programs. These gifts will enable us to recruit and retain the very best faculty and students. They can be funded over a period of up to five years or through a charitable trust or estate gift. Planned gifts may offer tax and income benefits for the donor.
