BSA Aquatic Programs

BSA Aquatic Programs

The local councils of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and USU Campus Recreation have teamed up to provide local Boy Scouts with a wonderful opportunity. The USU Learn-to-swim program will be overseeing the pool related tasks required for the Swimming merit badge and Lifesaving merit badge. They will also be providing the standard BSA Swim test. This is a huge boon for local boys involved in scouting since the Swimming merit badge is required for the rank of Eagle, and Lifesaving is a highly recommended merit badge for all scouts. Passing the BSA Swim Test is also required for all boys who may want to swim or participate in any water activity at a Boy Scout sponsored camp.

The Swimming and Lifesaving Merit Badges are offered during the final class 6:10-6:55 pm
Registration is required. The cost per boy is $45 and includes BOTH merit badges!

The BSA Swim Tests may be taken anytime Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:30 pm. The cost is $3.00 per boy.

Registration can be done over the phone 435-797-PLAY(7529), or in person. Payment of fees must be done in person prior to class or swim test. Fees are non-refundable, no exceptions.

*Participants must be sure to take a cleansing soap shower prior to entering the pool area. USU goes to great lengths to ensure their pools are clean and safe. This means we must demand that all patrons adhere to a strict code of cleanliness to help prevent the spread of water borne diseases such as Crypto. Remember, as part of the Scout Law, "...a scout is...courteous,[and] clean..." Please help us maintain clean pools so others may also enjoy water recreation.*
