Tryouts are competitive in nature and on-ice sessions require full gear, including full mask and mouthpiece, to participate. In addition, each applicant must fill out a USA Hockey IMR and pay the associated $40 fee.

Quality players from Junior A, Junior B, Midgets AAA & AA and high school stars. Sellout crowds of 2,000 fans at home games; third highest attended sport on campus. Utah State hockey averages more fans than most Jr. A and NCAA Division II programs. Extensive coverage in both the university and local papers, and regularly shown on local television. Seven national championship appearances, traveling to St. Louis, Indianapolis, Salt Lake City, New York City, New Jersey, Miami, Detroit, and San Jose. ACHA Division II western region covers eight states with over 30 teams. Utah State takes several trips every year to cities such as Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco, Phoenix, Denver, Seattle, Spokane and others. Home rink is a brand new $5 million Olympic size rink located minutes from campus. Was used as a practice facility by teams competing in the 2002 Olympic Winter Games hosted in Salt Lake City.
