Principles of Accounting

ACCT 2010: Financial Accounting Principles
Course Description: Survey of uses of accounting information by investors and creditors for decision making. Emphasis on basic accounting principles used to prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements.
ACCT 2020: Managerial Accounting Principles
Course Description: Survey of uses of accounting information by managers for decision making, including planning, budgeting, and controlling operations. Emphasizes accumulation, analysis, and control of product and service costs.

Enrolling for College Credit
Each class above offers 3 semester hours of transferrable college credit

Students interested in receiving credit for one or both Principles of Accounting courses through Utah State University can register for our online courses under various formats depending on semester deadlines. Open Entry courses can be started at anytime during the semester and can be completed at the student's own pace. However all courses must be completed by the end of the term in which they are stated.

Admission and Registration

Step 1: Easy Admission

USU Distance Education allows students to take distance education courses without being formally admitted to the university. Please follow these steps to be admitted as a non-degree seeking student.

  1. Go to Banner (link will open in new window so you can reference these steps).
  2. Create a Login and Pin and click login.
  3. Select the application type: Option # 6: Non-Degree Seeking Admission.
  4. Select a term (Fall, Spring or Summer - if you are selecting the year long course, pick any term).
  5. Click on "Application is Complete" button when you are done. Otherwise the application will NOT be submitted.
  6. There is no charge to submit the "Non-Degree Seeking" application; if the student is charged to submit the application, then the wrong application has been selected.
  7. After your application has been submitted, you should receive an email with your student ID # (e.g. A#).
Step 2: Course Registration (After you receive your A-Number)
  1. Enter your zip code and press "Show Courses"
  2. Next steps will appear here after entering your zip code.
  3. Go to Banner (link will open in new window so you can reference these steps).
  4. Login using your A-Number.
  5. Click Student
  6. Click Registration
  7. Click Add/Drop Classes
  8. If prompted, select the term for which you wish to register.
  9. At the bottom of the screen enter the CRN(s) for the courses you which to register. The CRNs are shown above.
  10. Click Submit Changes
  11. Remember to pay for your courses after you register.
Step 3: Begin Coursework

After you complete registration you should have access to you course in a few minutes. Login to Canvas to begin.
