Bela G. Fejer is a
Professor in the Department of Physics and in the Center for Atmospheric
and Space Sciences at Utah State University. He was a Visiting Professor
at the Solar Terrestrial Environment Laboratory of Nagoya University
during January-April, 1994. He was a member of the CEDAR Steering
Committee of the Aeronomy Program of the National Science Foundation,
President of the Solar Terrestrial Physics Section of the Pan American
Institute of History and Geography (IPGH) of the Organization of
American States, member of the NASA Strategic Planning Committee
in 1990, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International
Symposium on Equatorial Aeronomy (ISEA) held in Tucuman, Argentina
in 1990, Co-Chairman of the ISEA meeting in Bali, Indonesia in 1995,
member of the Arecibo Observatory Advisory Committee during 1992-95,
member of the Organizing Committee of the Chapman Conference on
Magnetic Storms in 1996, member of the External Review Committee
of the SuperDARN project in 1991, 1994, 1998, and of the Solar Terrestrial
Environmental Laboratory of Nagoya University in 1995, member of
the National Science Foundation review panel of the US incoherent
scatter radar facilities in 1996, and member of the Organizing Committee
of the ISEA meeting in Antalya, Turkey, in 2000. He was an Associate
Editor of the Journal of Geophysical Research, Space Physics and
Geophysical Research Letters, is presently an Associate Editor of
Reviews of Geophysics and a member of the Editorial Board of the
Brazilian Journal of Geophysics, and a member of the Advisory Committee
of the NASA Living With a Star Targeted Science and Technology Program.
Dr. Fejer has over 120 published articles in referred journals and
books. He has extensive experience on the study of ionospheric processes
from high to equatorial latitudes, particularly of ionospheric electric
fields and plasma drifts, using incoherent scatter radars, satellites,
rockets, and optical measurements, and also on theoretical and experimental
studies of ionospheric plasma waves.
