All
College of Business Majors (except accounting)
Admit
directly to College of Business major (except accounting) if all of
the following conditions are met:
1. Admitted to Utah State University
2. Designated a College of Business
major on university application
3. Less than 24 post-high school earned
college credits
4. ACT Composite of 24 or higher
5. High School GPA of 3.5 or higher
All admitted
freshmen students, regardless of declared College of Business major,
must first complete the following four courses, or their equivalent,
with a C grade or higher in each course as a prerequisite to College
of Business courses numbered 3000 and above:
ECON 1500
- Introduction to Economic Institutions, History,and Principles
MATH 1100
- Calculus Techniques
STAT 2300
- Business Statistics
PSY 1010
or SOC 1010 - General Psychology or Introductory Sociology
Students not admitted to the College of Business as freshmen
Students
admitted to Utah State University and who applied for admission to
the College of Business, but do not meet the ACT and GPA standards,
will not be admitted. They may be designated as Undeclared (Business).
This designation is for students who have not been accepted into any
USU degree program, but plan on competing for admission to the College
of Business.
Non-Freshman
and Transfer Admission

USU
students and transfer students from other accredited colleges or universities
may be admitted directly to any College of Business major if they
have met the following:
1. Admitted
to Utah State University
2. 24
or more post-high school earned college credits with 3.5 GPA or higher.
3. Designated
a College of Business major on university appication (transfer students)
or submitted a College of Business application to the College of Business
Career & Education Opportunities Center (USU continuing students).
College of Business applications are available at the College of Business
CEO Center, Room 309.
Admission for students not meeting the above conditions is competitive
based on available space in the College of Business. Application may
be submitted after completetion of 24 credits of course work to include
the following four required courses (C grade or higher in each course)
or equivalent:
ECON 1500
- Introduction to Economic Institutions, History,and Principles
MATH 1100
- Calculus Techniques
STAT 2300
- Business Statistics
PSY 1010
or SOC 1010 - General Psychology or Introductory Sociology

with less than a 3.5 GPA).
After
students have completed 24 credits and the four required courses,
they may submit an application for admission with an essay to the
College of Business CEO Center, BUS 309, Utah State University, 3505
Old Main Hill, Logan, UT 84322-3505. Application forms are available
in the College of Business CEO Center, BUS 309 or on this web page.
Applicants
will be ranked according to GPA calculated as follows:
1/3
weight on four required courses
1/3 weight
on last 24 credits earned
1/3 weight
on overall GPA
Essays
will be evaluated by the admissions screening committee. Quality of
essays will be particularly important as a subjective determining
factor for students near the cutoff point.
The number
of students admitted each year will depend on space available in the
College to maintain appropriate student/faculty ratios in accordance
with the mission of the College and needs of the University. Departments
and/or majors may impose additional enrollment restrictions.
Acceptance
as an Accounting Major [

Incoming
freshment students may be admitted directly into the College of Business
as accounting majors if all of the following conditions are met:
1. Admitted to Utah State University
2. Designated accounting as preferred
major on university application
3. Less than 24 post-high school earned
college credits
4. ACT Composite of 26 or higher
5. High School GPA of 3.6 or higher
Students
not meeting the college non-freshman and transfer student requirements
may apply for acceptance as an accounting major after being admitted
in the College of Business, achieving at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA,
and completing Accounting 2010 with a B grade or higher. Accounting
major application forms may be obtained and submitted at the COB CEO
Center, Business 309.
Course
Restrictions[

Many
College of Business courses have prerequisites and other restrictions
requiring adherence. College of Business courses may be repeated only
once. College course restrictions are as follows:
1000-level

all course prerequisites including a 2.5 GPA
3000-to 5000-level
Admission to the College of Business or another USU courses major,
satisfy all course prerequisites including 2.67 GPA
(ACCT 3110 and 3310 require a 3.0 GPA)
Matriculation

Not
more than 15 USU College of Business credits (ACCT, BA, BIS, MHR),
numbered 2000 and above, earned as a non-business major (before acceptance
in the College of Business) can be applied to a College of Business
degree. More than 15 business credits can be transferred from other
accredited institutions. However, additional USU credits added to
previously earned transfer credits may not exceed 15.
Repeat
Policy
Students
may not repeat a course more than twice, and no more than 10 repeats
in total to earn a degree. (College of Business courses are limited
to one repeat)
Applications
and Deadlines

Students
will be admitted to the College of Business each semester. Applications
must be received by December 1 for Spring Semester, April 1 for
Summer Semester, and July 1 for Fall Semester. Applicants who
have completed all requirements may apply at any time. If their achievement
clearly qualifies for admission, they may receive early admission
notification from the selection committee. Other applicants will be
notified as soon as possible after grades are posted and the ranking
can be made for the current semester.

Extension Programs [

Since
all programs offered by the College of Business are subject to AACSB
accreditation standards and review, this undergraduate enrollment
plan must apply to all College of Business programs regardless of
location. A College of Business program is any program offered through
the College of Business leading to a USU bachelor's degree or any
university bachelor's degree program requiring 30 or more College
of Business credits. Any graduate program with 50 percent or more
of the required credits in traditional business subjects is considered
a College of Business program.

When do I apply for Admission into the College
of Business?
A student
may apply for Admission to the College of Business after they have
completed 24 credits to include ECON 1500, MATH 1100, STAT 2300 and
PSY 1010 or SOC 1010 with a C grade or higher in each course. Applications
must be received by December 1 for Spring Semester, April 1 for Summer
Semester, and July 1 for Fall Semester.
Do I have to complete
my General Education requirements before I can be admitted into the
College of Business?
No. General
Education requirements are a graduation requirement and do not have
to be completed until you graduate.
How do I apply for Admission

The application
process is very simple. A student must fill out an application with
essay and return it to the CEO Center in the Business Bldg Room 309.
Why should I apply for Admission to the College
of Business?
Admission
to the College of Business is an important step toward graduation.
A student must be admitted into the College of Business before they
can register for 3000- to 5000-level courses. Admission is also required
to start the graduation application process.
What does Admission into the College of
Business do for me?
Students
entering the College of Business are placed in an Undeclared Business
major. In order to be accepted into a major program a student must
complete the requirements for Admission. After a student is accepted
into the College of Business their major is changed and their registration
should no longer be blocked for 3000, 4000 or 5000 level courses.
Once I apply how do
I find out if I have been accepted into the College of Business?
You
will be notified via e-mail as to your status. If accepted you will
be assigned an advisor within the dept of your major. If you are not
accepted the reasons for deniel will be listed.
