Options A & B

A variety of options have been developed to meet the unique needs of students. While each option offers the same curriculum, each contains a slightly different element to appeal to the diverse interests of our incoming students. These options are described below. Option A requires a $50 course fee in addition to the regular tuition (courses dropped after the first day of class will not qualify for a refund of the course fee). Honors sections will follow Option A. The course fee for Option B is $25.

Option A - Traditional Model
(meets before fall semester begins and the first three weeks of the semester)
2 Credits

Students enrolled in Option A meet Wednesday through Saturday the week before fall semester begins, and then meet in three one-hour semester sessions held once per week during the first three weeks of the semester. (Please note: semester sessions may be scheduled Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.)

calendar

This option allows you to move into your University housing early and familiarize yourself with campus buildings, facilities, and services before the semester begins.

Option A will also the opportunity to join in a common "Literature Experience" by reading and discussing a contemporary piece of literature. Click here for more information.

The Honors sections of Connections will also follow this schedule. Students with high admissions index scores (125 or higher) will have the opportunity to register for Honors sections. Students enrolled in these Honors sections will be introduced to the Honors Program and will meet students with similar interests and goals. Follow the Honors link for more information.

Note: $50 course fee

Option B - Extended Model
(meets during fall semester)
1 credit

Students enrolled in this option, will meet for one hour, twice per week during the first eight weeks of the semester. This option caters to students who are unable to attend Connections the week during Option A, before school starts. This includes (but is not limited to) students participating in band, and athletics, as well as international students.

calendar

The curriculum covered in this option is similar in content to Option A, but is presented during an extended period of time, rather than during an intense, four-day session before school starts (including three one-hour semester sessions).
