ASL Club Silent Events

What are Silent Events?

While all our activities are voices-off, we have two special Silent events every year.

Our Silent events begin with an "Oath of Silence". We have found that the longer we turn off our voices the better our signing becomes and the more comfortable we are. We have workshops and games that will help you increase expression, reception, and knowledge of Deaf culture.

Silent Saturday in the fall is an all-day event on the USU campus. This was created to accomodate more students and it is less expensive than Silent Weekend.

Silent Weekend is an overnight retreat at Camp Utaba, up through Ogden Canyon, in the spring. The weekend has an overall theme, competitions among the student teams, a movie night, campfire with ASL storytelling, and lots of fun activties. It is a great opportunity to get away while improving your ASL.
