ICS/NIMS training
The National Incident Management System (NIMS) provides a systematic, proactive approach to guide departments and agencies at all levels of government, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector to work seamlessly to prevent, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the effects of incidents, regardless of cause, size, location, or complexity, in order to reduce the loss of life and property and harm to the environment.
USU Emergency Management will be offering the following training to anyone who will be responding to any type of emergency/disaster in any capacity.
August Sessions
- NIMS (National Incident Management System), An Introduction (IS.700.a)

- Description: This course introduces and overviews the National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS provides a consistent nationwide template to enable all government, private sector, and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents.
- Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS-100.a)
- Date: Friday, August 21, 2009
- Time: 9:00-11:00 am
- Location: Library FACT Lab, Room 204
- Description: This class introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
