Step 1: Getting to the DSO

How do students like Esperanza find out about and contact the Disability Service Office on their campus?

Esperanza’s mother was concerned that she would need some services to succeed academically in college. Esperanza and her mother did research about services and supports provided by the university. They were pleased to find out that there was an office that coordinates services for students with disabilities.

As they were browsing the university website, Esperanza and her mother found that some web pages were not accessible to people with visual disabilities. Do university websites have to be accessible?

On-line materials such as university and course websites are required by federal law to be accessible to students with disabilities (see accessibility resources for more information).
