Two main laws for higher ed

Two laws influence disability-related services in higher education:

• Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
• Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990

These laws are civil rights statutes designed to protect the rights of and prevent discrimination against students with disabilities. Without going into detail on these laws, let’s look at four of their most important implications for higher education.
