UPCOMING EVENTS
2nd Family Impact Seminar related to Families & Mental Health
I would like to invite anyone interested in our department, students and faculty alike to attend our second Family Impact Seminar related to Families and Mental Health. We will hear from University of Utah Medical School Faculty and pediatrician, Dr. Kathy Franchek-Loa to talk about long term effects of family violence on children and Dr. Douglas Goldsmith of the Children's Center in SLC to tie up how these kinds of events impact families and our society and potential policy decisions related to mental health. You will have some time at the end of the seminar to chat with our experts as well as legislators. The Seminar will be held on March 5, 2013 at 5:00 in the State Capitol Building in the Multipurpose room. It's an exciting opportunity to work with your government and get involved. If you are interested, please contact me at susan.talley@usu.edu
Utah Council on Family Relations (UCFR)
The annual Utah Council on Family Relations conference (UCFR) will be held in Orem at UVU on April 5, 2013. The registration page and schedule are still being finalized. The submission due date for presentations will likely be around the end of February. Dr. Ron Hammond at UVU is the 2013 program chair RonH@vuv.edu As with previous years, the FCHD department will reimburse students $15 of their registration and will pay mileage for anyone (students and/or faculty) who is carpooling (although not RCDE students).
