    Research Interests

My research interests focus on the development of young children, particularly in the context of the family (parent-child relationships) and school /care settings. In addition, because the majority of my career has included a deep connection with the Adele and Dale Chilld Development Laboratory, much of my work has concentrated on developmentally appropriate practice, quality care settings (including curriculum), children's transition to kindergarten, and the preparation of preservice teachers. Current research projects include an examination of preservice teachers' developmentally appropriate beliefs/practices, and an investigation of the relationship between the developmentally appropriate beliefs/practices of kindergarten teachers and their perceptions of children's kindergarten transition.
