Gerontology Certificate

The Gerontology Certification Program is an interdepartmental program administered by the Department of Family, Consumer, and Human Development in the College of Education and Human Services to help prepare students professionally for careers involving the elderly. The program is available to any USU student working on a degree who meets the criteria for admission. The Gerontology Certificate is awarded upon completion of certification requirements. Students must complete the certification requirements within two years following graduation. The certificate may be useful in obtaining employment in agencies which administer programs for the aging population.

The focus of the Gerontology Certificate is to provide academic and practical experience in understanding and working with the aging population. Requirements include 13 credits of course work, 150 clock hours (3 credits) of practical experience (FCHD 4970), an integrative paper, and participation in the USU Student Gerontology Association for a minimum of two semesters.
