My interests in adolescents and their families shape a quantitative research focus on intergenerational learning and cognitive development. A current line of research includes assessments of cognitive autonomy in adolescents of both at-risk and culturally diverse populations. Another area of current research comprises multi-generational assessments of mothers, fathers, and grandparents of early adolescent children.

Current studies include the role of mentors (especially grandparents) in the lives of adolescent risk-takers.
