Departmental Role

This is my first year at Utah State.  My primary roles are conducting research and teaching.

Research Interests

  •     The relationship consequences of financial financial behaviors and issues.  Examples:

?    What happens to newlywed's marital satisfaction as they pay off their consumer debt?  What happens if they assume more debt?
?    How are cohabiting couples' disagreements over finances related to their relationship stability relative to other types of disagreements?

  •  Time-use and relationships in families.  Examples:

?    How has the amount of time that married couples spend together has changed over the past four decades?
?    How do couples' time changes that occur when they become parents influence their marriage quality?

Courses Taught

Since this is my first year at Utah State, I have not taught any courses here.  But I will be teaching the graduate level family relationships course in the Fall.  The course will focus on financial issues in families.  In the Spring I will be teaching the marriage and family undergraduate course, and a graduate level statistics course.
