SPED Minor for FCHD Majors
The following list of courses are required for the SPED minor for FCHD non-certification students. These courses, along with a Bachelor's Degree in FCHD will qualify a student for the Utah Department of Health credential to serve children with disabilities ages 0-3 and their families in the Baby Watch early intervention program. Admittance to these courses in special education is by permission of the Special Education Department

COMD 2500 Language Development (F, Sp) 3 credits
SPED 5830 Sem: Working with Peers on Multi-disciplinary Teams (F, Sp) 1 credit
SPED 5010 Applied Behavior Analysis (F) 3 credits
SPED 5060 Consulting with Parents and Teachers (Sp) 3 credits
SPED 5710 Teaching Infants and Young Children with Disabilities (Sp) 3 credits
SPED 5730 Intervention Strategies for Young Children with Disabilities (F) 3 credits
SPED 5810 Seminar and Field Experience (Sp) 4 credits
FCHD courses that must be included to qualify for the credential:
FCHD 1500 Human Development Across the Lifespan (F, Sp) 3 credits
FCHD 2600 Seminar in Early Childhood Education* (F, Sp) 2 credits
FCHD 2630 Practicum in Early Childhood Education* (F, Sp) 2 credits
FCHD 3100 Abuse and Neglect (F, Sp) 3 credits
FCHD 3510 Infancy and Early Childhood (F, Sp) 3 credits
FCHD 3550 Infancy Lab - concurrent with FCHD 3510 (F, Sp) 1 credit
*FCHD 2600 and 2630 must be taken concurrently with SPED 5830
