Important Financial Aid Deadlines

In general, you must have completed your FAFSA before the last day you attend classes in order to receive aid for a particular semester. To receive a loan, you need to have completed the FAFSA one month to six weeks before you cease attending in order to have a chance. However, the earlier you apply the better! Also check the Fee Payment deadlines and the Payment Options at the registrar's office.

Spring Semester 2012 (2011-12 FAFSA)

Fri, Dec 16: Tuition and Fee payment deadline: Any difference between accepted financial aid and spring charges must be paid by this date.
Fri, Jan 13: Tuition and Fee payment deadline: Any difference between accepted financial aid and spring charges must be paid by this date.

Mon, Jan 30: Last day to be enrolled in spring classes to receive grants. Grants and Perkins Loan will also adjust through Jan 30.
Fri, Apr 27: Last day to accept award for Stafford or PLUS loans for spring-only loans. (You must have been awarded before this date!)
Fri, Apr 27: Last day for an appeal to be received in the financial aid office.
Fri, May 4: Last day to have your 2011-12 FAFSA processed if you are only attending spring semester and you only want a Pell grant.
If you are selected for verification, verification forms must be submitted within one week of your last date of attendance for the term.

Fall Semester 2011 (2011-12 FAFSA)

If you are selected for verification, verification forms must be submitted within one week of your last date of attendance for the term.

Summer Semester 2011 (2010-2011 & 2011-12 FAFSA)

Students should file the 2010-11 FAFSA by April 1 to have a good chance at meeting summer tuition deadlines. Students should file the 2010-11 FAFSA by June 1 have a good chance at meeting final aid deadlines for summer term. Students must have a complete file to be offered summer aid. Grants for summer terms will increase or decrease based on enrollment through July 15.

Wed, June 30: Last day to have your 2010-11 FAFSA processed (midnight Central Daylight time)
Fri, July 15: Last day to enroll in summer classes in order to receive grants. Grants will also adjust through July 15.
Thurs, July 21: Last day for an appeal to be received in the financial aid office.
Fri, July 29: Last day to accept award for Direct/Stafford or PLUS loans for summer semester loans. (You must have been awarded before this date!)

Please note: dropping courses may cause you to owe Pell grant. Grants will adjust or prorate until July 15. If you add or drop classes your Pell grant will increase or decrease.

Spring Semester 2010 (2009-10 FAFSA)

Students should file the 2009-10 FAFSA by Nov 1 to have a good chance at meeting Spring tuition deadlines.

Scholarship application deadline

New and transfer students apply on their application for admission. If you have questions, contact the Admissions Office at 435-797-1129. Most campus departments have a February deadline. Check with your department for further details. Go to the scholarships page for more infomation.

Student loan disbursement schedule

Assuming your loan is approved in time, your funds should be electronically transferred to USU 2-3 days prior to the beginning of the semester. Remainder checks are mailed the day before the beginning of the semester. Directly deposited funds are deposited the first day of class. Aid is not available to students before classes begin.
