Important Financial Aid Deadlines:

Please be aware of our processing deadlines so that you don't miss out on funding opportunities.

  • For student loans, verification items must be submitted by the last day of class before finals week.
  • For grants, please see verification deadlines below.
  • For marital status updates, students must be married and marital status updated on FAFSA before the last day of classes they are attending (not finals weeks).
  • Please note, there are additional deadlines for tuition payment, course registration, financial aid appeals, etc.
  • General and specific federal aid deadlines are listed below by semester:

Fall Semester 2018 (2018-19 FAFSA)

Students should file their 2018-19 FAFSA and complete any verification tasks before July 2018 to have a good chance at meeting fall 2018 tuition payment deadlines. Students should file their 2018-19 FAFSA before November 2018 and complete any verification tasks before finals week to meet other deadlines for fall term if they are not attending spring 2019 . Students are strongly encouraged to finalize any requirements and be otherwise eligible before the end of fall term to receive financial aid.

Specific Deadlines for Fall 2018

  • Wed, Aug 15: Tuition and Fee payment deadline
    Any difference between accepted financial aid and fall charges must be paid by this date to avoid losing your courses
  • Tues, Sep 4: USU Eastern Tuition and Fee payment deadline
    Any difference between accepted financial aid and fall charges must be paid by this date to avoid losing your courses (New)

  • August 27- Sep 17: Grants will increase or decrease based on enrollment
  • Wed, Sep 12: Last day to submit an academic progress appeal for fall 2018 federal aid
  • Mon, Sep 17: Last day to register for courses in fall term and still receive grants, if otherwise eligible
    Any courses registered after this date do not qualify for an increase in grants
  • Mon, Sep 17: Adjustments made to cost of attendance based on enrollment level at the end of this day

  • Fri, Dec 7: Last day for a professional judgment appeal to be received in the financial aid office
  • Fri, Dec 7: Last day to request a Parent PLUS loan from studentloans.gov (You must be otherwise eligible for federal aid)
  • Wed, Dec 12: Last day to submit your 2018-19 FAFSA if you are only attending fall semester and are eligible for a Federal Pell grant. 
    If you are selected for verification, all verification tasks must be submitted by April 1, 2019. 
  • Thurs, Dec 13: Last day to accept Direct loans for students only attending fall semester (You must have been awarded before this date!)

Summer Semester 2018 (2017-18 FAFSA)

Students should file their 2017-18 FAFSA and complete any verification tasks by April 2018 to have a good chance at meeting summer 2018 tuition payment deadlines. Students should file the 2017-18 FAFSA before June 2018 and complete any verification tasks to meet other deadlines for summer 2018 term. Students are strongly encouraged to finalize any requirements and be otherwise eligible before the end of fall term to receive financial aid. Please note that grants for all summer sessions will increase or decrease based on enrollment throughout the summer semester until July 2, 2018.

  • Fri, June 8: Last day to submit academic progress appeal for summer 2018 federal aid - New Deadline
  • Sat, June 30: Last day to submit your 2017-18 FAFSA (midnight Central Daylight time) - you must be currently enrolled when you submit your FAFSA
  • Mon, July 2: Last day that grants will adjust based on enrollment
  • Mon, July 2: Adjustments made to cost of attendance based on enrollment level at the end of this day

  • Fri, Aug 3: Last day to request a Parent PLUS loan from studentloans.gov (You must be otherwise eligible for federal aid)
  • Wed, Aug 8: Last day for a professional judgment appeal to be received in the financial aid office. 
  • Thurs, Aug 9: Last day to accept Direct loans (You must have been awarded before this date!)
  • Pell grant applicants only: If you are selected for verification, all verification tasks must be submitted by Sept 1, 2018.
  • Fri, Sep 7, 2018 - Last day to verify academic participation in withdrawn or failed courses for fall 2017, spring 2018, and summer 2018

Spring Semester 2018 (2017-18 FAFSA)

Students should file their 2017-18 FAFSA and complete any verification tasks before December 2017 to have a good chance at meeting spring 2018 tuition payment deadlines. Students should file their 2017-18 FAFSA before April 2018 and complete any verification tasks before finals week to meet other deadlines for spring term if they are not attending summer 2018 .   • Wed, May 2: Last day to submit your 2017-18 FAFSA if you are only attending spring semester and are eligible for a Federal Pell grant. If you are selected for verification, all verification tasks must be submitted by Aug 15, 2018.

Summer Semester 2017 (2016-17 FAFSA)

Students should file their 2016-17 FAFSA and complete any verification tasks by April 2017 to have a good chance at meeting summer 2017 tuition payment deadlines. Students should file the 2016-17 FAFSA before June 2017 and complete any verification tasks to meet other deadlines for summer 2017 term. Students must have a complete file and be otherwise eligible to be offered summer aid. Please note that grants for all summer sessions will increase or decrease based on enrollment throughout the summer semester until July 5, 2017.

  • Fri, July 28: Last day to accept Direct loans (You must have been awarded before this date!)
  • Fri, July 28: Last day to process Parent PLUS loans (You must have been awarded before this date!)

Spring Semester 2017 (2016-17 FAFSA)

Students should file the 2016-17 FAFSA before April 2017 and complete any verification items to meet other deadlines for spring term if they are not attending summer 2017. Students must have a complete file and be otherwise eligible before the end of fall term to receive financial aid.

  • Jan 9-Jan 30: Grants will increase or decrease based on enrollment.
  • Fri, Jan 20: Second Tuition and Fee payment deadline: Any difference between accepted financial aid and fall charges must be paid by this date.
  • Wed, Jan 25: Last day to submit academic progress appeal for spring 2017 federal aid - New Deadline
  • Mon, Jan 30: Last day to register for courses in spring 2017 and still receive grants, if otherwise eligible. Any courses registered after this date will not qualify for an increase in grants.
  • Mon, Jan 30: Cost of attendance will be adjusted to enrollment level at the end of this day.
  • Fri, April 28: Last day for a professional judgment appeal to be received in the financial aid office.
  • Fri, April 28: Last day to process a Parent PLUS loan. (You must have been awarded before this date!)
  • Fri, April 28: Last day to accept Direct loans for students only attending SPRING semester. (You must have been awarded before this date!)
  • Fri, April 28: Last day to submit your 2016-17 FAFSA if you are only attending spring semester and are eligible for a Federal Pell grant. If you are selected for verification, all verification tasks must be submitted by August 28, 2017.
  • Fri, Sep 8, 2017 - Last day to verify academic participation in withdrawn or failed courses.

Fall Semester 2016 (2016-17 FAFSA)

Students should file their 2016-17 FAFSA and complete any verification items by July 2016 to have a good chance at meeting fall 2016 tuition payment deadlines. Students should file the 2016-17 FAFSA before November 2016 and complete any verification items to meet other deadlines for fall term if they are not attending spring 2017 . Students must have a complete file and be otherwise eligible before the end of fall term to receive financial aid.
