Location

Utah State University is located in the mountains of Cache Valley , Utah. It is just 1.5 hours northeast of Salt Lake City and is within a day's driving distance to 6 national parks, including Yellowstone National Park. The surrounding area includes ski resorts, lakes, rivers, and mountains, making it one of the finest recreational environments in the nation. In fact, the area has been called "the most beautiful valley in the Rocky Mountains" by legendary mountain man Jim Bridger.

The university was founded in 1888 and is a Carnegie Doctoral/Research Extensive university - the highest possible ranking for a university with respect to research activity and productivity. The 850 + faculty generate nearly $200 million in research revenue annually. While it is a large university, with more than 23,000 undergraduate and graduate students, USU continues to offer personalized attention to its students. Not only do faculty members consistently receive high reviews from students, but there are dozens of student services offices around campus dedicated to making the most of each student's experience.

USU is also the state's land-grant and space-grant institution. This means the university has a responsibility to spread education throughout the state. Utah State has risen to this challenge with its 3 regional campuses and numerous distance education centers throughout the state, which offer complete USU degrees, including graduate degrees, to students outside of Logan. In addition, USU has Extension units in all of Utah's 29 counties, which offer educational expertise and non-credit classes to communities.
