The English major offers four distinct emphases: Creative Writing, English Teaching, Literary Studies, and Professional and Technical Writing. Two advisors assist students in the English major by advising on major requirements, general education, university graduation requirements, major and university policies, and deadlines. A student is assigned an advisor based on the emphasis s/he selects. The advisors are:

Admission Requirements

New freshmen admitted to USU in good standing qualify for admission to the English major.

Transfer students from other institutions need a 2.75 Career GPA for admission to English major in good standing. Special attention will be given to performance in applicable courses for the major.

Students transferring from other USU majors need a 2.75 USU GPA for admission to English major in good standing. Special attention will be given to performance in applicable courses for the major.
