Profile A summa cum laude graduate of Georgia Southern University, Denise Conover went on to earn a master's and doctorate in history from Washington State University as well as a master's degree in library science from Southern Connecticut State University. Before coming to USU, she taught at Washington State, Ball State (Indiana), Southern Connecticut, and Weber State. Her specialties include U.S. diplomatic and U.S. military history; she also teaches courses outside of U.S. history such as USU 1320 (Civilization: Humanities), HIST 4821 (World War II in Asia) and HIST 4890 (Cold War in Asia). Dr. Conover is currently a Senior Lecturer and serves as the Major Undergraduate Advisor in the History Department (Logan campus). In 2005, she was named Outstanding Advisor for the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, as well as nominated Professor of the Year by Phi Alpha Theta, the undergraduate history honorary society. Her teaching assignment is year-round and includes World War II, Cold War in Asia, and U.S. Military History. Aiming to connect with each student, Dr. Conover requires intensive writing assignments and holds frequent discussions in all of her classes. Dr. Conover has published in the area of diplomatic history, with a focus on the origins of the Cold War. Most recently, she has co-authored a series of articles on the history of wildlife management. |
