Profile Dr. Sue Shapiro is Associate Professor of History and Classics. She received her BA in History from the University of Rochester and her MA and PhD in Classics from Brown University and the University of Texas at Austin respectively. Her main areas of interest are Herodotus and Greek intellectual history and the late Roman Republic. Dr. Shapiro's articles, book reviews and translations have appeared in a number of journals, including Classical Antiquity, Classical Journal, and Transactions of the American Philological Association. She has also published O Tempora! O Mores! Cicero's Catilinarian Orations: A Student Edition with Historical Essays (University of Oklahoma Press, 2005). Professor Shapiro teaches all levels of Latin and Classical Greek, as well as Greek Intellectual History, Classical Mythology and Ancient Western Civilization. Dedicated to training the next generation of Latin teachers, she helped institute the new Latin Teaching Minor at USU. Dr. Shapiro also helped to revive the Utah Classical Association and served as its president for three years. She is currently the Vice President for Utah of the Classical Association of the Middle West and South. |
