Ona Siporin
Ona Siporin serves as assistant editor
of the Western Historical Quarterly and is an adjunct instructor
at Utah State University. Her publications include two chapbooks
of poetry, a book of essays, a book of history and fiction co-authored
with historian Anne M. Butler, and various freelance articles. Siporin
has received writing and storytelling grants in Idaho and Utah,
has aired commentary on national and local radio, and was the 2005
recipient of the Albert J. Colton Award for National and International
Research. She worked for several years with the Sundance Institute
Playwrights Lab and WordBridge Playwrights Lab, and has traveled
with the Utah Performing Arts Tour and the Utah Arts Council Artists
Roster. Affiliated with a grass-roots activist group of Venetians,
Siporin has helped organize and translate in classes for American
students visiting Venice on their summer abroad. She is currently
translating and editing the memoir of a contemporary Venetian artist
and architect --- as well as enjoying her colleagues and work at
the Western Historical Quarterly.
