Ona Siporin

Ona Siporin serves as assistant editor of the Western Historical Quarterly and is an adjunct instructor at Utah State University. Her publications include two chapbooks of poetry, a book of essays, a book of history and fiction co-authored with historian Anne M. Butler, and various freelance articles. Siporin has received writing and storytelling grants in Idaho and Utah, has aired commentary on national and local radio, and was the 2005 recipient of the Albert J. Colton Award for National and International Research. She worked for several years with the Sundance Institute Playwrights Lab and WordBridge Playwrights Lab, and has traveled with the Utah Performing Arts Tour and the Utah Arts Council Artists Roster. Affiliated with a grass-roots activist group of Venetians, Siporin has helped organize and translate in classes for American students visiting Venice on their summer abroad. She is currently translating and editing the memoir of a contemporary Venetian artist and architect --- as well as enjoying her colleagues and work at the Western Historical Quarterly.
