Procedure for Receiving the Tuition Reduction
Undergraduate Students
If it is your first semester attending USU, you must fill out the Application for Tuition Reduction Form. After your initial approval for tuition reduction, the reduction will be automated for all subsequent undergraduate semesters. Please be aware of the following:
-
If your tuition is not reflecting the reduction in SSB, please contact the Human Resources Department (435-797-0216) to find out what is keeping the process from running automatically.
-
If you are the employee or spouse of an employee, you can waive some or all of the student fees. To waive those fees, please see Student Fee Waiver Form. Unlike the Application for Tuition Reduction form, this Waiver form must be completed each semester and submitted to the Registrar’s Office
-
If you are a retired employee or the spouse/dependent of a retired employee, the automatic program will not work and you will still need to fill out the Application for Tuition Reduction Form and submit it to the Human Resources Department every semester. Retirees and spouses: your Student Fee Waiver form should still be submitted to the Registrar’s Office.
Graduate Students
Those enrolled in the graduate programs will still need to fill out the form and turn it in at the Registrar’s Office to get your reduction benefit. If you are the employee or spouse of an employee, you can also waive some or all of the student fees Student Fee Waiver Form. Graduate courses are a tax-free benefit up to the value of $5,250 each year. Tuition benefits in excess of that $5,250 value are a taxable benefit and we still need your signature that you are aware that you will be taxed on any tuition benefit over $5,250.
