The Hurd was born in 2006 by a group of Aggies that thought all students should be able to show their spirit for Aggie athletics at USU. The main goal was to create more athletic support and a more unified student body. In years past it's been called the "Blue Bloods" and the "Blue Crew." The Hurd wanted to be set apart from other schools whose colors are blue so the name “The Hurd” was born. The name was thought to symbolize a “herd” of USU students and incorporate the USU bull mascot. In spelling the Hurd we decided to put in the U-state logo where an "E" would normally be to tie it into athletics since the U-state logo is used only for athletics.
