Research Interests:

The Gowen laboratory is interested in understanding the pathogenesis of arenaviral and bunyaviral hemorrhagic fever viruses, and the development of effective countermeasures to prevent and treat the diseases they cause. The viruses studied include various new world arenaviruses including Junin, Pichinde, and Tacaribe, the Rift Valley fever and Punta Toro phleboviruses, and several hantaviruses.
