Section #3: Officers will be elected at the first meeting of each semester and shall serve for a period of one semester. If officers wish to continue in their appointment beyond the length of one semester, they may stand for re-election.

A. Elections will be held in the following manner:

  • The advisor(s) of the IELISA will call the first general meeting of the semester and announce it to the membership. Nominations and elections will be held at this meeting.
  • Nomination is required in order to run for office. One member will nominate another member. Members must be present in order to run for office. The nominee then can decide to accept or reject the nomination. No person will run for office without having gone through this nomination process.
  • After all nominations have been made, elections will be held. The voting will be through secret ballot if there is more than one candidate for any office. If there is not more than one candidate for an office, the candidate who has been nominated will automatically take that office. All members present at this meeting will be allowed to vote.
  • Officers shall be elected by a simple majority vote of the voting members present at the election meeting.

B. Officers will be removed if they violate any of the policies and procedures of ASUSU or as outlined in the Student Code.
