If you're serious about a career in politics, policy, or the public sector, there's no better way to start than serving a full-time internship. As an intern, you'll work side by side with leaders in the field as you solve problems, develop skills, and make connections that will help you find a job – or even a career.
How can we help you?
That's where the IOGP Internship Program can help you. From the minute you drop off your resume in our office, we're dedicated to helping you prepare for, secure, and excel in an internship.
- First, we review your resume, your cover letter, your references, and help you determine how best to present yourself. We can also help you with your interviewing skills and online self-marketing efforts to make yourself more attractive to a future employer. We also help you identify your strengths, interests, and career ambitions, and then help you select an internship where you will have the best chance of pursuing your goals and finding a meaningful career.
- Next, because the IOGP has a long-standing relationship with many political offices across the country, we can help you network and get an "in" at the office you hope to work for. USU has a history of sending out excellent interns, and many offices have come to respect and rely on our recommendations.
- Finally, to help you be as successful as possible as an intern, we provide a short orientation to help you get up to speed with the political atmosphere you'll be entering. We'll teach you the dos and don'ts, what employers will value, how to get noticed, and how to make the most of your experience and connections.
Are you ready to step into politics? Great! We're standing by ready to help. To take the first step, download the application packet, fill it out, and turn it in to Old Main room 109, or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Once we've reviewed your packet, we'll contact you to talk about what to do next to prepare for, secure, and excel at an internship.
